FAQ

How do I care for my products?

Do your best to avoid getting water into the container. Store your products in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Does tallow have a smell?

Tallow has it's own natural scent, similar to how shea butter, cacao, and other oils have their own. Everyone's sense of smell is unique, so tallow smells a little differently to each person. The natural scent of tallow varies from hardly there to mild. This is normal with natural products and can be based on its source (the cow and its diet, for example). Generally, the scent fades into the essential oils and/or herbs used and dissipates after application. If you find tallow is not for you, check out our oils.

My product is a slightly different color, why?

Our ingredients are sourced from nature. One of the gifts in using natural ingredients is their unique beauty. Sometimes, this can mean your product may be a slightly different color than the last time you purchased. This does not alter quality, we source our ingredients carefully to ensure we are using the best we can find! Your product is just as unique as you.

There are some small black/colored particles in my body butter, what is it?

Every now and again, we have a bit of herb sediment left behind from our infusions, so you may see some in your product. This does not impact the quality of your products.

My product melted, what do I do? Or my product is a little stiffer/softer than normal? Or my texture is grainy, what’s wrong?

Tallow can harden/stiffen during cooler weather and soften in warmer weather. If your product heated and cooled too quickly, it can get a grainy texture. To fix this or if your product has melted, you can place it in the fridge allowing it to firm back up and then it’s ready for use as a balm. If you’d like to get the whipped texture back, you can whip it again!
